Hi, I am planning to buy a water purifier for my parents living in a small village in Madhya Pradesh. Because of lack of running water and electricity I am looking for a gravity based water purifier. Please suggest a good gravity based water purifier.

I can’t believe that not one of these manufacturers states how they ensure that no cysts bacteria or virus can get thru their filtration. I’ve heard that a filter must be at least .5 micron efficient to do that. Also, what are the actual ingredients of the filters? I’d rather not have to get an RO as they remove all the good minerals and aren’t really the healthiest water to drink every day long term, but being a westerner living in India I don’t want to get giardia or typhoid from the water.
Think you should try out Doulton, which is now in India. Having been in the UAE for 19 years, and now moved to India for good, we were using their British Berkefeld ones there. Ticks all the boxes in terms of durability, quality and maintenance and the quality of water. Have switched to Doulton now in India ( apparently the same product). Filter candle easily lasts for a year in our current place, and we buy it directly from their Indian site.

Most important is not only to buy a filter but also identify it’s maintenance cost. Some of the products are good but very high cost to maintain. Like HUL pureit. Its cartridge says 1500 or 3000 litre but goes kaput in two months 500 litre. Every time to cost 600 rs. So it was worst buy.
Please suggest options where TDS is low and is supply water. Option with low maintenance cost. I don’t think we need RO.
