Pureit Copper UV Review
We are probably the first ones to do a hands-on review and thorough testing of the Pureit Copper UV.
In our review, we’ve covered every aspect and feature of the product to answer all your queries.
The Copper UV is designed to purify low TDS water (below 200 ppm). Therefore, it is most suitable for homes with a municipal tap water supply.
If the water supply at your home meets the above criteria, then continue reading, else you may like to check out the Pureit Copper Plus.
Choose an RO purifier, if the TDS level is higher than 500 ppm or if the water source is known to contain any heavy metals like lead, arsenic, or mercury.

Installation
The sample unit, the one we are reviewing here, was installed within 24 hours of delivery. And it took around 20-25 minutes for the installation.
Design Review
It does stand out as a different and unique design. In fact, we are very much impressed with the clean and minimalist design. The purifier looks absolutely stunning in its shiny white color.
No annoying stickers, no unnecessary design elements. If you are someone who prefers clean and minimalist design then you too will love the Pureit Copper UV.
The build quality seems highly durable.
The purifier features two touch buttons for dispensing water.
But why do you need two buttons when one is enough?
Because the Pureit Copper UV gives you the option to dispense either normal UV or Copper UV water.
The touch buttons are pretty responsive. All it requires is a gentle tap on the respective touch button and you get a continuous flow of purified water.
We were a little surprised to know that all the alerts and indicators are also placed alongside the smart touch buttons. The tiny strips just above the touch buttons are actually color-changing LED indicators. The LED indicators change color to tell you about filter replacement, auto shut-off, electrical faults, etc.
The purifier also features a drip tray right below the dispensing tap. We found this drip tray to be very useful and practical. This drip tray catches any accidental spills or those extra few drops that drop after you remove your glass or bottle. This small feature will help keep your kitchen as clean as the purifier itself.
Review of the Purification Quality
Let’s see how the unit has performed in the test of purification quality, after all that’s what the machine is supposed to do.
Pureit Copper UV purifies the incoming water in 5 different stages. These are designed to remove all physical impurities like dust, sand, organic impurities like chlorine, pesticides, and microbial impurities like bacteria, viruses, etc.
The unit comes with a free pre-sediment filter. This pre-sediment filter is very useful as it filters out all the visible physical impurities. This pre-filtering of the input water makes the job of internal filters easy. This improves the efficiency and durability of the internal filters.
You also save around Rs. 1,000, which you would otherwise spend on buying an external pre-filter.
We tested the sample unit with municipal tap water, and the TDS level of the input water was around 90 ppm. The input water had Chlorine (a common chemical disinfectant used by municipal corporations across the world), as was evident from the peculiar smell and taste.
The input water seemed more or less clear, with little or no visible physical impurities like dust and mud.
The purification starts as soon as the machine is turned on. And we were able to dispense both UV water and Copper UV water almost instantly. Being a non-storage purifier, this feature becomes very important.
The company claims a flow/purification rate of 1.9 litres/minute. During our test, the purifier dispensed a little over 1.6 litres of purified water in one minute. That’s quite impressive.
When we tasted the purified water, we could see noticeable improvements in taste and appearance.

Purification Stages
The input water is passed through 5 different stages:
- Sediment Filter – Removes physical impurities like dust, sand, etc.
- Activated Carbon Filter – Removes chemical and organic impurities like Chlorine, pesticides, etc.
- Mesh Filter – Removes any remaining dust particles.
- UV Chamber – Inactivates microorganic impurities like bacteria, viruses, etc.
- Copper Enrich Cartridge – Adds copper to the purified water.
You may want to learn more about the benefits of copper water.
These filters and purification stages are sufficient for the purification of municipal tap water. But at this price, you would want Pureit to include one more purification stage, i.e. a UF membrane.
A UF membrane can remove even the smallest suspended particles and microorganisms like bacteria and viruses. The UV chamber only inactivates the bacteria and viruses, it does not filter them out from the water. In simple terms, UV kills bacteria and viruses, but their harmless dead bodies remain in the water. On the other hand, a UF membrane filters out bacteria and viruses.
Storage and Purification Capacity
One of the big drawbacks of Pureit Copper UV is, that it does not come with a storage tank. This drawback is partly addressed by the high flow/purification rate of 2 litres/minute. Being a UV purifier, it purifies the water instantly.
But this might prove to be a handicap for areas with long power cuts. Without any provision for purified water storage, you won’t have any access to purified water in the absence of electricity.
Keep this in mind if you have long power cuts and if you do not have any power backup arrangements at your home.
Filter Change Alerts and Auto Shut-off
The Copper UV comes equipped with an advanced alert mechanism. This feature automatically alerts you 15 days before the filters need to be replaced.
The purifier will automatically shut off if the filters are not changed during this time. At times this feature might feel a little annoying but it ensures the safety and purity of the water you drink.
In absence of such a mechanism, we have often seen people not replacing the filters until they are fully choked. This is not the right approach, as it not only puts your health at risk but also reduces the life and efficiency of your purifier.
Maintenance Cost
As per the company, the Germ Kill Kit (GKK) needs to be replaced after the purification of 6,000 litres of water. GKK consists of a sediment filter, activated carbon filter, and mesh filter. The cost of this Germ Kill Kit is Rs. 1,800.
The copper cartridge is to be replaced after the purification of 12,000 litres of water. The cost of the copper cartridge is Rs. 999.
Assuming a family size of 5 with an average drinking water requirement of 15 litres per day, the GKK will have to be replaced after 13 months and the copper cartridge after 26 months.
Maintenance Cost (13 months) – Rs. 1800 + Rs. 500 (half of copper cartridge cost).
So, the maintenance cost for Pureit Copper UV for a period of 13 months is Rs. 2,300 approximately.
The average annual maintenance cost would be around Rs. 2,100*.
*This is an approximate calculation. The brand charges Rs. 300 extra for the delivery and installation of filters.
